MEET MIKE FISHER

Born in the Great Depression during the Dust Bowl days in Oklahoma City, I started working at a very young age at the Oklahoma National Stockyards. After graduating from high school, I enlisted at age seventeen in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, serving eight years.
In 1959, I married Tomi Sue Hudson, and on June 8, 2009 we will have enjoyed and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
In 1965, I came into a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. In the latter part of that year, as a result of the Billy Graham film The Restless Ones, we began a home Bible Study for youth which was to last 131/2 years. Over time, I have been involved in both prison ministy and my church, also serving as an adjunct professor at a private Christian school in Yukon, Oklahoma, teaching the Christian persepective on the beginnings of our country, the Civil War, and World War II.
After retiring from the cattle business in 2006, we are enjoying life our three children, six grandchildren, and our great-grandchild. I am so thankful to be teamed with Joe Jared in the writing of Devotions for Warriors.
MEET JOE JARED

I grew up in Eastern Oklahoma enjoying the outdoors - fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, collecting fossils, and havng Tom Sawyer adventures.
In the U.S. Army Infantry I served on the Demilitarized Zone (D.M.Z.) of Korea, in West Germany, and in Viet Nam. I have been shot at and missed. Maybe they missed me and maybe what happened in the next paragraph happened because I had a praying grandmother. She was a prayer warrior.
I had about ten rebellious years as an atheist, beginning when I was fifteen years old. That very unhappy decade came to an end when I found new life in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Everything changed after that.
Now in my sixties I have been blessed with a happy marriage, three children (one deceased), and to date four grandchildren.
My day job is working for the State of Oklahoma, Deptartment of Rehabilitation Services. My other identity is as a writer of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry - an incurable disease, but most likely not fatal. My two historical novels, The Ransom of the Rune Writer (about Vikings in North America) and The Spirit Quest of the Thunder Clan (about Native Americans at the time of the Viking visits) are available at www.publishamerica.com . My poetry has appeared in The Lyric, Oklahoma Today, and other publications.
Devotions for Warriors, along with its possible future sequels, is a new adventure, co-written with my friend and history buff, Mike Fisher. Read more about it on this site.
